Staring out the window, joy and hope coursing through the veins of yourself, your imagination ran wild at the possibilities that could be outside in the open world. For you see, this special holiday was full of miracles and surprises.

Though it would seem that the surprise you wanted was not available.

A saddened frown spread across your features and a gentle sigh escaped your plump lips. The sight in front of you was such a disappointment, especially since you had been looking forward to it.

You see, dear reader, you had been expected a white Christmas like you would see in all those joyful Christmas movies and hear in all of those classic Christmas songs that would pop up every now and then on the radio. A Christmas where white snowflakes would sprinkle down onto the, soon to be, cold, frosted ground as children giggled and made people out of cold, frozen water so that the ice crystal civilians could smile to the cars that drove by.

You had been expecting snow.

There was no snow around.

You looked at the front lawn of the house you shared with your friends with disappointment as all you saw on the garden was greenery and leafless trees; not even a tiny layer of frost was covering the grass.

A set of blonde hair with a stubborn cowlick noticed your pout of dismay and quickly and loudly rushed over to you with curiosity. He wouldn’t pass the chance to comfort you and be like a hero!

Finally approaching you, the blonde looked to your side with wondering blue eyes that were hidden behind the translucent substance of his glasses.

He then grinned brightly at the sight of you, even if you hadn’t looked in his direction.  “Hey (Your name)! What are you doing?”

Snapping out of your slightly depressed daze, you looked to your right to see a pair of baby blue hues looking directly into your (eye colour) orbs with little space in between. You probably would have flushed in embarrassment if it weren’t for your obvious unhappiness.

“Oh hey Alfred…” You mumbled robotically, your face breaking into a weak smile. “I was just looking out the window to see something…”

“Well what is it dudette? Maybe I could help you look for it!” Alfred suggested with his usual dorky grin on his face. His grin was so big that he had to close his eyes to fit it on his face.

Your smile cracked slightly in amusement at the silly suggestion, or at least it was silly for you. “I’ve already looked Alfred, what I’m looking for is not there.”

“Well what were you looking for? If you tell me, then maybe I’ll be able to find it easier!” Alfred responded with, noticing how your smile faltered as his own grin weakened at the notification.

“I was looking for snow Alfred.” You answered quietly and looked back at the window. “Trust me, there isn’t any.”

“Wow, really? That’s unusual.” Alfred glanced at the window to see the rather pleasant scenery that was not being covered by layers and layers of snow.

“What are you two looking at?” Came an English accent. You could hear his footsteps approach the two of you and could imagine the frown that usually was on his features when he had to deal with either Alfred or the Frenchman. “I would have thought you two would be singing random Christmas Carols around the Christmas tree and opening whatever present belonged to you.”

Ignoring the British Gentleman’s intrigue on the subject, Alfred merely did a small hand gesture for the said man to look out the window. “Come look at this Iggy.”

“Don’t call me that! My name is Arthur, not ‘Iggy’.” The Englishman, better known as Arthur, quickly corrected before leaning over you to get a better look of what nature beheld to them outside.

“Look! No snow!” Alfred stated quite obviously and even pointed at the glass to further prove the point of ‘no snow’ as if Arthur was too stupid to realize it without someone’s help.

“I see that idiot.” Arthur retorted before raising one of his bushy, caterpillar eyebrows. “What’s the massive fuss about? No snow? I don’t see the problem.”

Alfred looked surprise at Arthur’s response and moved to the front door and opened it to be greeted by a cold rush of air from the winter’s breeze. He seemed unaffected, even if he was only wearing his Captain America pyjamas.

He gestured somewhat dramatically at the outside world. “How can you not see the problem? There’s no snow! Do you realize how un-Christmas this day will be now?”

Arthur frowned and hugged his body, which were confined in simple green pajamas. “Oh you’re being overdramatic, and close the door already! It’s freezing out there and we don’t need a draft!”

Letting out an obnoxious but somewhat cute laugh, Alfred listened to Arthur for a change and shut the door with a deafening slam, nearly causing a small earthquake to happen because of his abnormal strength. He didn’t seem to care though.

Guitar string eyebrows just frowned more in irritation.

Sacreblue!” A French accent shouted as a bang could be heard from upstairs. You were certain an annoyed grumble would have escaped your eccentric friend’s mouth.

Two pairs of feet trudged their way down the wooden staircase as the blondes who the feet belonged to stood in front of you three with different expressions.

One, who possessed wavy hair with a matching stubble and bright blue eyes, looked somewhat grumpy for being awoken in such a rude manner as he kept trying to sort out his hair that tried to cover his eyes. You never realized how bad your friend Francis’s bed hair could be.

The other one, who you easily recognized as Matthew from his flowing blonde hair that had a curl off the top of his head and purple eyes, just merely hugged his tired bear Kumajiro to his chest and ignored the animal’s complaints as to who he was being hugged by.

“What was the loud noise? You woke me from my beauty sleep!” France inquired with a small complaint at the end, obviously not as much as a ‘morning person’ as he claimed to be. You probably would have giggled if you didn’t feel sad about the situation.

“Sorry dude! I just shut the door a little too hard, that’s all!” Alfred answered as a chuckle escaped his throat and into the oxygenated room.

“A little? T-that sounded a bit more than a little…” Matthew commented, but only you really noticed. It wasn’t the fact that you were the only who recognized him (since Alfred and Francis did, Arthur was still learning to), it was just that people seemed to be focusing on something far more intently to have a notice of the Canadian man.

Francis just sighed. “Of course…now why did you even open the door in the first place? Some people were still sleeping you know. It’s early even if it is Christmas!”

Alfred rubbed the back of his head somewhat awkwardly as he remembered the fact that it had only just gone seven in the morning. England woke up early all the time, and you and the American wake up early in order to open the presents first.

“Oh, I opened the door since there’s no snow outside!” Alfred explained as if his logic solved all the world’s problems, which of course, it didn’t.

That caught the interest of the longhaired blondes, since they looked at Alfred with raised brows, as Francis questioned how there was no snow, since it was quite common to have snow where they were.

“Dunno.” Alfred simply responded with. “But it’s weird.”

Matthew’s gaze focused on you as he noticed your intensity staring out the window with a fate mixture of emotions known as annoyance and disappointment. Concerned, Matthew meekly asked, “A-are you okay (Your name)…?”

You tried to hide your feelings, but you did so badly. You just looked away from the mirror of the outside world and showed Matthew a smile, though it was not one of your average beams. “Yeah, I’m fine…just a little disappointed I guess.”

“Oh mon cheri, do not worry. There is always next year, right?” Francis reassured you, as one of his big brother smiles graced his features.

“I know…but I was really looking forward to it, and what happens if I’m not with you guys next year? Then this could have been our only Christmas together for at least a long time.” You rambled since you had been known to worry yourself by accident. It wasn’t a trait you were proud of, but it just happened without you truly realizing sometimes.

“I’m sure you’ll be with us love for next year…and even if you aren’t, snow isn’t a big deal anyway.” Arthur showed you a reassuring smile, and though you were grateful for it and his optimistic sentence, you still wished that snow had fallen on this special day.

“I guess…” You mumbled weakly. You weren’t the type to cry in your own sorrow, but something about having no snow seemed dull to you. You had so many ideas to play in the snow with your best friends and it seemed like a downer that you wouldn’t be able to do them.

“Hey, why don’t we go open some presents dudette? That’ll cheer you up!” Alfred suggested as he wrapped one of his large arms around your (skin colour) shoulders that were covered by (anime) pajamas. He flashed you a big grin, and you couldn’t help but return it with a smile.

It was strange yet wonderful how he could make you smile even if you didn’t want to.

“Yeah, that sounds good.” You agreed and was ready to be guided into the living room but you and Alfred were stopped by an Englishman’s voice.

“You two, at least get changed into something. I don’t care if it’s Christmas, you’ll be much warmer with something on.” Arthur told you two with a stern yet concerned look on his face.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever mum.” Alfred sarcastically replied with, waving him off.

Arthur frowned in annoyance. “Lovely. Now get upstairs you two so we can all get changed and not have to worry about the condition of the living room.”

Alfred didn’t bother to hide the childish pout that broke onto his face. “Boo! You’re no fun Iggy.”

“I am fun, and stop calling me Iggy! My name is Arthur!” Arthur snapped slightly. He was usually like this with Alfred now ever since they grew up; you could never remember why that happened.

“Whatever you say Iggy.”

“Don’t make me use my pirate ways, wanker.”

“Now, now, if you are both done arguing like children, I believe we have some pajamas to be rid of.” Francis intercepted before a perverted smirk started to tug at the edges of his lips. “Unless, you would need any help with that?”

Your British’s friend face contorted to a look of disgust. “Keep your filthy hands away from me, frog. I don’t want you touching me anywhere, let alone when I’m changing.”

“Oh you’re just playing hard to get.” Francis waved his hands in a manner to brush Arthur’s comment off. “(Your name) wouldn’t mind me helping her at all, would you?”

Feeling Francis’s blue eyes now on you made you more nervous and shyer. Though, you weren’t going to let that comment fly by…easily anyway. “W-well I wouldn’t need you to do that since I can dress myself anyway.”

“I didn’t hear a non.” Came the playful response.

“Probably because I was trying to reject you nicely…” You mumbled with your arms crossed, not really looking at him in the eyes from your embarrassment. Nonetheless, you were not unheard since Arthur, who stood quite close to you, heard your sweet voice loud and clear and a big, mischievous smirk graced his features; thoroughly amused by your comment.

Francis obviously hadn’t heard you, since he raised one of his regular sized eyebrows at you and then at the sight of the amused gentleman better known as Iggy-brows. “What are you laughing about?”

“Oh nothing, you wouldn’t get it anyway.” Arthur shrugged, and then started to walk upstairs so he would not be questioned any further. “Now enough delaying and lets get changed. The sooner we get changed, the sooner we can open the presents, since I know most of you must be dying to see what you got.”

The first person to follow Arthur was a still confused Frenchman. “Now hold on a second Angleterre, what exactly did you laugh about? Do not run away when I’m asking you a question!”

Next was Alfred, who was laughing away. “Hey dude! Don’t leave me hanging either! What did you say?”

After that was Matthew. “G-guys, lets just get changed…”

“Who are you?”

“I’m Matthew!”

You were last.

A smile graced your soft features as you remembered just how much you loved the silliness of your friends. Even though they were all completely opposite from one another, they still had this special bond between them. It probably helped that they were family.

You looked back at the window, which still held the greenery of the universe.

Your smile faltered before you walked upstairs also to get changed.

“What do you mean you guys have to go?”

Arthur sent you a look of which just read ‘sorry’ as he quickly put his green coat on along with his boots and scarf. “I’m sorry love, but we just got a call from Ludwig saying about an important meeting that we need to attend to and you know we can’t just ignore it.”

You couldn’t help but let a huff like a child whilst you crossed your arms over your chest. “I know…but still? It’s Christmas Arthur, couldn’t he have picked another day to do it?”

“You know he couldn’t do that. Whatever meeting this may be it has to be important.” Arthur reasoned as he finally finished buttoning up his outer layer.

Seeing your very disappointment pout, Matthew, who had finished getting himself ready for the cold weather (there may be no snow, but it was still freezing outside), quickly motioned for Kumajiro to come towards you. “We won’t be too long (Your name), and in the mean time you can have Kumanaji to keep you company while we’re gone.”

Kumajiro didn’t say much but just looked at you with his cute, fluffy face, which was slightly smeared from maple syrup.

Seeing the adorable polar bears face, you crack a small smile but you were still sad, though you would object no further since you knew they had to go. “I-I guess that’s a good change to the system.”

Alfred wrapped one his arms around your shoulder and gave you a firm squeeze before sending you a reassuring beam. “Don’t worry dudette, we’ll be back as soon as we can.”

Oui, do not be sad beau, you look much better with your darling smile.” Francis spoke softly as he showed you one of his infamous smiles that you wished he’d show people more often. It was so much more heartwarming than his smirks.

You just nodded your head and showed Francis a small smile, which made him grin brighter.

Once they had all gotten their coats and other clothing to keep them warm, they all said their goodbyes to you, wished you well and reassured you more that they would not take too long. You waited until the door shut and you heard the engine of their car drive off before you moved away from your spot.

Looking at Kumajiro, you tried your best to smile. “So, we’ve got the house to ourselves, what do you want to do Kumajiro?”

Kumajiro stared at you for a good minute before he pulled at the fabric of your trousers as he motioned one of his free paws to where the kitchen was. “Pancakes.”

The smile on your face couldn’t help but become a bit bigger at the bear’s adorable yet silly nature. You picked him up (he was used to you fondling over him) and walked to the food preparing room. “Pancakes it is then. I was a bit hungry anyway.”

The white creature in your arms cuddled into you more, seemingly content with having the same thing everyday.

To be honest, you were glad to have the bear so you wouldn’t be alone, but a part of you was still sad about the turn of events that had occurred on the day you thought would be filled with snow and cheers.

Letting out a soft sigh, you finally entered the kitchen.

“It wasn’t that important anyway…”

Once you had entered the room, you placed Kumajiro down on a seat near the table and headed towards the oven to make pancakes. Once getting all the equipment out and getting the batter ready, you started pouring the substance into the frying pan and prepared two plates to feed you and Matthew’s animal friend.

As you cooked the delicious breakfast meal, you heard Matthew’s loyal companion move from his feet and land on the ground with a small thump. You turned your head as best as you could in the direction of where the bear was, and noticed his patting feet move towards a window in the kitchen, peering out of it.

Confused, you finally finished one of the pancakes and put it on a plate before putting the pan down and walking towards the destination of where Kumajiro stood.

“Kumajiro? What’s up?” You asked as you walked towards him.

“The sky.” Kumajiro merely replied with as you rolled your eyes at his iconic joke, though you had a small smile on your face.

“Yes I know that but what I mean is-“

“No, the sky. Look.” Kumajiro used one of his furry paws to hold your hand and then pointed it towards the glass of the window.

You looked at him for a moment, pondering on the fact that what you thought was his way of joke, was actually him pointing something out, before you looked out the window and couldn’t help but let out a happy squeal of delight at the scene.

There outside that window was the most beautiful thing you had ever seen. White freckles gentle flew to the bottom of the ground, making the once green grass into a layer of light icing. It was going at a fast pace and you were surprised how sudden it had come. Not even a sign of it happening had been around today, so it not only filled you with joy and hope, but curiosity and wonder.

“I-It’s snowing…” You whispered, flabbergasted. You couldn’t keep your eyes off the gorgeous sight.

Almost instantly like a power shot through you, you rushed towards the front door and quickly put on your shoes. Once that was done, you didn’t even bother with a coat as you hurried out the door and into the gently whitening world. You hadn’t even realized that Kumajiro had followed you outside as well.

You couldn’t help but jump and down like a small child and let out a happy yell of absolute joy at the news of snow. The snow was going everywhere from its rapid fire as it nearly drenched your hair in the crystal pieces of itself. Your whole body was getting covered with particles from the once was water, but you didn’t care as you stomped your feet in a small pile of snow.

It didn’t crunch.

You looked at it confused, raising one of your (colour) eyebrows. You were sure that snow was suppose to let out a noise close to crunching when someone stepped on it. There might not have been much on the ground so far, but there was enough to be able to get a sound like that.

You picked up one of the snow pieces that had fallen onto your clothes and again, it was peculiar. It just didn’t feel like what snow was suppose to feel, if that made sense. It was like an inner gut sensation was able to tell whether it was real or not.

‘That’s weird…’ You thought, ‘Why would it be snowing, if the snow isn’t really snow…?’

You finally looked up to nearly be blinded by small parts of white that attacked your (skin tone) face. You made sure that it wouldn’t get into your eyes by using your hand as coverage.

It took you a minute, but as you spotted blonde in the mist of the milky colour, a pang went through your heart as you couldn’t help but blink your eyes in disbelief and even rub them to make sure your eyes were not playing tricks on you.

In front of you, was probably the sweetest thing anyone had ever done for you, and you couldn’t help but feel water at the edges of your eyes at the heartwarming gesture.

Francis, Alfred, Matthew and Arthur were all standing on the slated roof of their home, and were sprinkling fake snow over the areas around the house to make it look like it was really snowing. They even made sure to get some snow on the lawn surrounding the home so that you wouldn’t know easily.

They had lied about the meeting.

They all had smiles on their faces, and even with their difficult relationships they seemed to be having the best time of their lives together. You could see them joking and playfully arguing, and you could hear Alfred’s loud, excited voice exclaim how awesome he’d be to make you happy; he usually got shushed by the rest of them because he was being loud but you could tell they felt the same thing.

Kumajiro who had just been messing around in the snow, looked up as well and pointed towards his owner and his owner’s friend with his usual big, black eyes. You were certain that the edges of his lips had curled upwards.

“Who are they?” Kumajiro inquired as he now turned his attention to you. You just let a big, loving beam adorn your features as you looked at the polar bear; you were certain that the edges of your eyes had finally collapsed and let the waterfalls appear.

You just looked back at your friends with joy and compassion in your eyes, and knew that they were the best people on the planet.

“They are the kindest people that I’ve ever met.”

Look! It's a Christmas story with four dorks! It's the best way to spend the holidays I say~ XD

Hello, you beautiful shining stars! I wanted to celebrate the season with a lovely Christmas present! Or at least I hope it's lovely. ^^' This is also an entry for the contest that HetaXReadXInter are hosting which is called 'New Years Day Contest'. Wish me luck! :D

I wrote this idea since I've seen many Christmas stories with the typical scenery, snow as the basis. I know for a fact that there are places where it rarely snows, or will have some years without snow and some with it so with that thought in mind, I came up with this idea on the spot and it kind of just flowed from there, but I really enjoyed writing it and how it turned out~ I liked the concept of it as well, so I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I have~ :D

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope this present will make your day a tad bit more special~

(Disclaimer: I don't own the picture, Hetalia, you, The F.A.C.E family or Kumajiro~)

I leave you with the merriest of spirits! Merry Christmas! :iconhappygrinneplz::iconmerrychristmasplz:
